I plan on reading German novels and working with a couple of German vocabulary books that I have, but also want to visit places where I'll will be immersed in a German environment. The purpose of STE is to standardize style and vocabulary, Feedback and reports available in multiple languages, including German, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. When writing in STE, one must follow a specific set of rules including the use a limited vocabulary, guidelines for non-approved words and approved synonyms, and restrictions on sentence and paragraph length. This year I have challenged my students to learn 1000 of the most common and useful elementary German vocabulary words using a website called Memrise. Many of the pages in this help file are HTML tables of vocabulary lists with the German and English words in columns. I have created a custom help file for my notes on the German language. I've been using Duolingo regularly since it was first released. Beautiful images clearly show German vocabulary divided into units by topic. I cannot imagine where I would be now had I not found it. Despite my previous experience with the new Michel Thomas courses, I decided to give the German vocabulary course a go.
